Andriana II is a residential development overlooking the historic town of Kato Paphos.
The scheme extends the city by creating a thriving community containing apartments and commercial activities.
A generic apartment type was designed, which was then developed to provide variations within the restrictions of the planning regulations which maintained proportions. This resulted in an interesting range of individual apartment blocks and a lively streetscape.
Using local materials and simple constructions techniques, the design respects the architectural vernacular. The buildings are interspersed with private courtyards and trees, offering natural shade, while protecting against the strong winds. The facades are designed to promote natural ventilation and control solar gain.
External terraces, balconies and loggias were configured to allow plenty of daylight into the apartments, while protecting than from the heat of the sun.
